Recently, I met up with organizer Shane Morin to chat about a few different poetry events he organizes.
One is Poetry After Hours, which takes place every 3rd Wednesday at RiverRun bookstore — except this month, when it’ll happen around the corner, outside in Vaughan mall (more on that event below). It’s a monthly reading featuring a variety of local poets, open to the public and free.
The other event is The Poets Corner, which happens every 4th Wednesday at Flight Coffee Company in Dover. This one’s more of a workshop/collaborative reading — also open to the public and free.
More info in our video interview, which you can watch on YouTube.

Acoustic Poetry After Hours at Vaughan Mall
Saturday, July 15, 7:00pm – 9:30pm at Vaughan Mall
This month, Poetry After Hours is seasonally relocated to Vaughan Mall. Recognizing that no one wants to go indoors on a gorgeous summer evening, the organizers smartly found a beautiful outdoor venue for July’s event.
Saturday’s tentative list of performers:
- Jenna Dion
- Monica Nagle (Acoustic)
- Mike Nelson
- Donna Swanson (Acoustic)
- Samantha Hayford
- Scott Plante (Acoustic)
- Shane Morin
- Elliot Spurr (Acoustic)
- Lauren WB Vermette
Says RiverRun of the event: “We haven’t done something like this for about ten years, many thanks for Poet Wrangler Shane Morin for getting us outdoors for what will surely be a magical evening.”
