This weekend was my second stay at The Hotel Portsmouth. Yes, I live right down the road. No, I don’t usually book hotel rooms in my own hometown. But yes, it’s totally worth it at The Hotel Portsmouth. That place is tops, starting with the amazing design evident in the photo above and in every inch of the place.
I could write sonnets on their bedding alone (Cuddledown)—deep, plush comforters, great linens, and six (6!!) ginormous pillows on the bed. I’m more than a little in love with the chairs in their rooms. The room keys and phones are super rad (and those phones are also available in their super rad gift shop). They hang Philip Case Cohen photos in their rooms. Oh, and there are iPads in every room(pre-loaded with area info & local attractions).
Oh, and the SERVICE. Both times I’ve stayed, every person I have dealt with when checking in, checking out, asking a question, or waving on my way to their fancy water dispenser (Flat or bubbly water? You decide!) was always incredibly nice and helpful and friendly.
Whether you live here or not, you should treat yourself to a stay at The Hotel Portsmouth. And for sure if you need a place to recommend to an out-of-towner, this is a recommendation that you’ll be richly rewarded for giving.

Well, if a hotel in your hometown is worth it, then do it. I know many of my friends who do staycations by staying in a hotel without leaving town. Here in Orlando, I would love to stay at the Westgate Resort for a weekend getaway.
